' James Charles Winery & Vineyard - 2015 Petit Verdot Red Wine

2015 Petit Verdot

A bold, full-bodied wine, perfect for pairing with robust meats and cheeses.

$31.00 per Bottle

Like many grapes grown in Virginia, Petit Verdot originated in the Bordeaux region of France. It's usually used as a blending varietal there, however, which is why you may not have seen it too often before as a stand-alone wine.

In Virginia, this little grape ripens perfectly on the vine, and this 100% Petit Verdot wine does not disappoint!

Especially now that it's had time to age in the bottle, 2015 Petit Verdot is a dynamic wine with lots of fruit flavors to keep your palate intrigued.

You'll notice subtle hints of black pepper, with flavors of vanilla followed by notes of blackberry and sage.

Tasting Notes

This 100% Petit Verdot is an expression of a bold, dynamic varietal. Hints of vanilla, blackberry and sage are underscored by subtle green-pepper notes. This wine’s tannic, full-bodied nature makes it ideal for pairing with robust, spicy meats and cheeses.

Pair with any robust meat or mushroom, like a hearty beef stew, a spicy leg of lamb or grilled portobello mushrooms - the spicier, the better!

Rated 88 points by Wine Enthusiast Magazine: "This wine has a lovely bouquet of blackberry, violet, lavender and church incense. They all translate onto the austere palate, with velvet tannins. The finish is long, herbal and woody." ~ April 2017
